Missions at Piqua Baptist Church is more than one part of our church–it’s woven into all we do. Since her beginnings, supporting the advance of the gospel through Adoniram Judson , PBC has sought to train, equip, and send missionaries to reach every tribe, tongue, people, and nation. Involvement in global missions is not optional. As Pastor John Piper put it, “You have three choices in world missions: be a joyful, sacrificial goer, be a joyful, sacrificial sender, or be disobedient.”
We believe the Lord has called us to three areas of outreach: to the unreached, the unplaced, and the unborn. We surrender our time, talents, resources to reach the unreached, place the unplaced, and save the unborn.
Local Outreach
PBC is actively engaged in several local outreaches. Members are trained and equipped to engage the lost throughout their everyday lives, whether at work, in their neighborhood, or through evangelistic events. We encourage our whole church family to seek opportunities to share the good news of Jesus Christ in their neighborhood through hosting neighborhood events, volunteering their time through area mercy ministries like Piqua Compassion Network, the Bethany Center Food Pantry, and various evangelistic outreach events. In addition, several of our members are engaged in bible education programs like Lifewise Academy, which provides Christian education to public schools.
Piqua Baptist supports the Elizabeth’s New Life Center, an organization which seeks to provide support and care for mothers considering abortion. To learn more about how you might serve the cause of the unborn, click here.
Global Outreach
At PBC we seek to continue our church’s 200 year old legacy of supporting and sending men and women to proclaim the excellencies of Christ among the nations. Our goal is to nurture and equip and mobilize our members to serve the advance of the gospel among the unreached. With more than 7000 people groups still classified as “unreached”, there is much to do. Jesus said, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” (Mark 9:37-38)
We believe missions is about starting and strengthening the local church. We work to establish new churches where there is none. We work to strengthen churches actively working among the unreached. We look to do this through short-term and mid-term mission trips, equipping and sending new missionaries, and partnering with existing missionaries.
